In partnering with Leave 10 South Sound to become a Leave 10 Champion, nonprofits and community foundations can transform the possibility of a financial commitment into a reality for future generations. Through the Champion program we provide you with the guidance, steps and resources to put your own planned giving program in place.
Being a Champion means:
- Supporting the vibrancy and health of your organization and community by becoming a member of a regional coalition of nonprofits, allied professionals and community partners dedicated to raising awareness of the impact legacy giving can make in our communities.
- Embracing the Leave 10 mission: “Leave 10 aims to build better communities and transform ordinary people into philanthropists by educating, inspiring and encouraging individuals to aspire to leave 10% of their estate to charity.”
We encourage your organization to be an ambassador of Leave 10 South Sound by:
- encouraging your employees, board members and other constituents to take the Leave 10 pledge and become Champions
- establishing or enhancing your planned giving program and make it visible to your constituents and the public
- celebrating those who commit to Leave 10 by sharing stories, testimonials, and building a Legacy Society
- displaying the Leave 10 South Sound logo and shared messaging in your marketing materials, websites and other touch points to help elevate visibility
Champion benefits include:
- Recognition as a Leave 10 Champion on this website and Leave10.org websites
- Enhanced educational programming offered through Leave 10 South Sound, Leave 10.org and South Sound Planned Giving Council on planned giving topics, including Planned Giving 101, how to talk about planned gifts, and how to market planned giving
- Free and easy access to tools and resources to help with your efforts in starting or enhancing your planned giving program via the Leave 10 South Sound website
- Access to the Transfer of Wealth Study as a tool to help build vision and inspiration for promoting planned gifts as well as setting strategic priorities for use and stewardship of assets
- Mentoring for nonprofits needing extra assistance with establishing their program
- No cost, no membership fee.
What next?
- Become a Champion! Complete the Leave 10 pledge for nonprofits. We hope you will also complete an Individual Leave 10 pledge as well.
- Explore and utilize our Nonprofit toolkit and resources to help establish or grow your planned giving program.
- Participate in Make a Will Month (August) and National Estate Planning Awareness Week (3rd week of October). We have lots of resources to help you prepare for these events.
- Co-brand your planned giving page using the Leave 10 logo and link to our website to promote your alliance with this important movement.
- Share our estate planning resources and videos with your donors and invite them to future estate planning webinars.
- Check out our events page and attend our educational programs, as well as programs offered by our partners.
- Connect with us via LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date on our latest news.
- Start your legacy society and begin to steward your legacy donors.
- Report your legacy commitments, endowments, testimonials, and success stories so we can celebrate you!
- Consider volunteering on the Leave 10 Steering Committee or serving as a mentor to other nonprofits. Contact us at leave10southsound@gmail.com.
- Become an ambassador. Tell others, including your donors, board members, staff, and other nonprofits, about your support of Leave 10 South Sound and encourage them to become Champions, too. Here are some talking points you can use for conversations and emails.
Leave 10 South Sound aims to build stronger communities and transform as many people as possible into philanthropists by educating, inspiring, and encouraging individuals to aspire to leave at least 10% of their estates to charity.
